Information for your Surgery

Before your surgery

Before your admission to Central Sydney Private Hospital, all paperwork related to your admission must be completed. We encourage all patients to submit their completed paperwork, preferably two weeks before the day of operation, to allow our team to prepare for you.

During your consultation with your Doctor, they will advise you of your admission date to Central Sydney Private Hospital. Your admission date will be determined on your Doctor’s booking list; usually, the waiting time will be from two to four weeks.

Following this appointment, it is strongly advised that patients complete all hospital paperwork, available below;

Our hospital administrative support team will contact patients one business day before their day of surgery to advise of the time that they need to arrive at the hospital; this may be via SMS or telephone call.

Day of Surgery at Central Sydney Private Hospital

On your day of surgery, please bring the following cards;

  1. Medicare Card, Pension Card or other concession cards such as Veterans’ Affairs Entitlement Card and Health fund details.
  2. Health Fund and Payment options
  3. Past Medical History from your GP
  4. All current Medications in original boxes
  5. Radiology and Pathology Test results

Please wear loose and comfortable clothing and do not wear make-up.

We provide patients with a locker for personal belongings; however, it is strongly recommended that patients do not bring any valuables with them, such as jewellery; we do not accept responsibility for patient’s valuables.

Discharge from Central Sydney Private Hospital Hospital

When patients are ready for discharge from the hospital, our nursing team will contact the nominated carer to let them know when they are ready for pick up.

When your surgery has been completed, you will be transferred to the recovery room area until you are fully awake; once our nurses determine you ready, your carer or escort will be contacted to collect you. Before you leave the hospital, our team will give you instructions on dressings, provide scripts for medication provided by your treating surgeon.

The next day after your surgery, our nursing staff will give you a call to check your condition and experience at Central Sydney Private Hospital.

Our nursing staff will call the carer when their patient is ready for collection.

Central Sydney Private Hospital Recovery

Fees and Accounts

Our team will complete a health fund check two weeks before your admission to Central Sydney Private Hospital; however, it is strongly recommended that you contact your private health fund to check that you are covered for your proposed surgery and any related excess or co-payments that will be payable on admission.

For Self-funded patients, an estimate for your procedure will be provided to you once your admission paperwork is complete. This estimate must be paid in total before your admission to surgery.

We accept cash, EFTPOS, VISA, Mastercard and Bank Cheque. We do not accept AMEX or personal cheques.

Before having your surgery, all outstanding accounts must be settled, and our team will go through this with you.

Parking and Transport

Central Sydney Private Hospital is located within the Sussex Centre, at the heart centre of Sydney’s CBD.

Train:
Museum Station is the closest to Central Sydney Private Hospital, with an 8-minute walk to the hospital

Lightrail:
Line 1, 2 and 3 have stops close to Central Sydney Private Hospital. For line 1, paddy’s market is the closest stop, with a 3-minute walk to Central Syndey Private Hospital. For line 2 and line 3, Chinatown is the closest stop with a 2-minute walk to Central Sydney Private Hospital.

Carpark:

  • $25 all-day parking is available at Cinema Centre Carpark, located at 521 Kent St. This rate is exclusive to Central Sydney Private Hospital patients and visitors.
  • Sussex Centre Carpark is located inside our building, 401 Sussex Street, hourly rate starting from $13
