Information before your admission

All patients being admitted to Central Sydney Private Hospital will be required to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test on arrival; this will be undertaken by our nursing team, with the test provided by the hospital.

Due to unprecedented pressure on the PCR testing clinics across Sydney, patients are no longer asked to have a PCR within 72 hours before admission; this is now being replaced by Rapid Antigen Tests, conducted on arrival to hospital by our nursing team.

Before your admission to Central Sydney Private Hospital, all paperwork related to your admission must be completed, including your surgery consent form. If you haven't submitted your paperwork yet, please contact our team on 02 9281 3822.

For all surgical procedures, it is recommended that you do not drive for 24 hours following anaesthetic (general, IV sedation). Instead, a family member, friend or trusted caregiver should be organised to pick you up and take you home after surgery.

When you are ready to leave the hospital, one of our nurses will contact the person you nominated and will be given instructions about when and where to pick you up.

If you do not have someone who can take you home, please call our team on 02 9281 3822 to discuss.

  1. Medicare Card
  2. Pension Card or other concession cards such as Department of Veterans' Affairs Entitlement Card
  3. Private Health Fund Card
  4. All paperwork related to your admission, such as preadmission and consent forms
  5. Past Medical History from your GP
  6. Radiology and Pathology Test results

Please wear loose and comfortable clothing and do not wear make-up.

We provide patients with a locker for personal belongings; however, it is strongly recommended that patients do not bring any valuables, such as jewellery; Central Sydney Private Hospital will not accept responsibility for patients' valuables.

On the day of admission, there will be forms to complete, including a pathology request form to sign. This pathology form is exclusively for specimen collection, and not all pathology services are eligible for Medicare benefits. For this reason, an out-of-pocket payment may be required in certain instances.

We accept cash, most debit or credit cards except Amex. To speak with our team about this, please contact our team on 02 9281 3822.

There is a carpark downstairs of our building, which opens at 08:30 am. However, hourly rates do apply with a maximum day rate of $45.00.

Alternatively, the other affordable carpark is at Cinema Centre Carpark, open 24 hours and is approximately 7 minutes walk from our hospital. Entry is via 308 Sussex Street or 521 Kent Street Sydney NSW 2000. You can purchase a $25 all-day validated ticket from our hospital on admission; this is valid for one entry and one exit only.

If you choose to purchase a $25 validated ticket for the Cinema Centre Carpark, when you exit the carpark, you will have to insert the first ticket you received on entry to the carpark, followed by the purchased, validated ticket at the exit gate.

The maximum height for vehicles is 2 metres.

Our address is Sussex Centre, level 5, 401 Sussex Street, Haymarket NSW 2000.

On entry to Sussex Centre, please take the lifts on your immediate right-hand side once you've passed the first set of sliding doors.
